Part
of the 10 Days On The Island Festival in Tasmania, this Isle of
Plenty project was one of three site specific installations of scale
in the landscape and associated community events commissioned by
Tasmanian Regional Arts.
The
underlying aim of the Isle of Plenty project was to focus on People,
Place and Produce at the three locations. On
the North West coast of Tasmania, the location chosen for the art
installion was Lillico, with a work entitled Hood by Troy Ruffels,
using car bonnets in the landscape as a reflection on the role of
the automobile.
The
associated community event was held at Don on the 31st March and
using the car theme as its motif, the event became the CARnival
- celebrating cars in art and the art of cars.
